Dr Sam Cockle | Health Psychologist | Eating & Activity

PhD CPsychol AFBPsS

HCPC Registered Health Psychologist

BPS Chartered Psychologist & Associate Fellow

Who I support and what I help with

I support adults who have struggled with eating, activity, or their weight. I offer practical, psychology‑led support to help you find clearer, calmer, more manageable ways of approaching eating or activity in everyday life. This is grounded in evidence and free from judgement.

How I approach eating, activity, and weight

I know how personal and complex eating, activity and weight can feel, and I approach them with care and respect. My aim is to offer steady, thoughtful support that helps you understand and explore what’s been feeling difficult, and find approaches that feel more manageable for you.

My practice is weight‑inclusive and centred on personal choice. I support people of all body sizes, including those who want to lose weight, those who don’t, and those using weight‑loss medication. I don’t make assumptions about your priorities; we focus on what matters to you.

My background and professional training

My background includes research and applied psychology roles across health, behaviour change and wellbeing. I’ve seen how often people end up blaming themselves when things don't go to plan, even when circumstances are working against them. My practice is about offering something clearer, calmer and more supportive.

I’m registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the statutory regulator for Health Psychologists in the UK. This means I have completed the required training and meet the professional standards set by the HCPC for this legally protected title. You can check my registration by searching my surname on the HCPC website.

I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a legally recognised marker of accredited training that reflects expertise and high professional standards in psychology. I am also an Associate Fellow of the BPS, an additional acknowledgement of contribution to the field. My membership can be confirmed via the BPS website.

Testimonials

Why a Health Psychologist might be the right fit for you

You may have been trying to make sense of eating, activity or weight for a long time, perhaps feeling stuck between different approaches, mixed messages or past experiences that haven’t been helpful. You don’t need to have a clear plan now or know exactly what you want, it’s OK to feel unsure.

As a Health Psychologist, I can help you understand what’s been feeling difficult, explore the factors involved, and find approaches that feel clearer, calmer and more manageable in everyday life. I offer steady, evidence‑based support that focuses on what matters to you, without judgement or pressure.
